Beyond the Keynote: Humans, AI, and the San Francisco Vibe at Dreamforce

When the glare of the keynote lights fades and the noise of Moscone Center settles, the true value of Dreamforce comes down to a simple question: What does all of this actually mean for the missions we serve?

Amid thousands of announcements, autonomous AI demos, and sprawling product roadmaps, the real magic happens in the side conversations — between sessions, over coffee, and in the shared realization that technology is finally catching up to the urgent needs of the social sector. We brought our team to San Francisco to cut through the vendor hype, test the latest platform shifts, and pull out the practical insights that matter most for mission-driven organizations.

Below is a rapid-fire roundtable recap with three of our team members — Caroline, Gary, and Toby — who share their real-time takes on Moscone energy, Salesforce's AI shifts, and the future of nonprofit tech.

Round 1: The Energy & The City

Question: If you had to describe the energy at Moscone Center this year in three words, what would they be?

  • Gary: Agentic, Possibilities, Ready.
  • Caroline: Optimistic, Forward-Thinking, Buzzing.

Question: Beyond the keynote stages, what was the most memorable conversation you had while grabbing a coffee or waiting in line?

  • Gary: "While waiting in line for the NPSP to NPC migration session, I got to chat with several nonprofit leaders ready to make the jump. Many agreed that right now is the ideal window to build budgets, plan strategically, and use the migration as an opportunity to clear technical debt while streamlining core business processes."

Question: San Francisco speed round: Best thing you ate, favorite neighborhood, or most 'classic SF' moment?

  • Toby: "Walking along the bay to Oracle Park and catching the drone show glowing over the water."

Round 2: The Core Salesforce Scoop on AI & The Future

Question: Salesforce went all-in on the 'Agentic Enterprise' this year. Cut through the buzzwords - what does this actually mean for how our team and clients work next year?

  • Toby: "It’s not just Lightning anymore. The surfaces we work on — and the environments our clients interact with daily — are going to continue evolving rapidly. We will too."

Question: Between AIforce, Slackforce, and all the new AI agents, which single announcement made you say, 'We need to implement this immediately'?

  • Toby: "It’s always Slackbot. It is a polished, connected workspace that connects all the tools our clients use in a secure, effective way. It’s like a magic trick."

Question: Marc Benioff talked a lot about AI replacing friction, not tools. How do you see that playing out in daily workflows?

  • Caroline: "Salesforce will no longer be another login, another username to enter, or that annoying reminder from your admin to track your calls. Salesforce is moving toward meeting you where you are — whether that's in Slack, Claude, or within Salesforce alongside a single agent coworker that keeps you on track and your data intact. It's not a secondary step; it operates alongside your day-to-day."

Round 3: Mission Impact & Nonprofit Focus

Question: Nonprofit Cloud is getting major upgrades around outcome management and AI. How will these tools help organizations spend less time in the system and more time on the mission?

  • Gary: "One of the common themes I heard at Dreamforce was that Nonprofit Cloud now has many of the features that, for years, we had to custom build in NPSP. Organizations are seeing the impact — gaining not just days, but weeks of efficiency because the tools and automation are already there. On fundraising, organizations are seeing significant increases because they finally have the native tools to better understand, engage, and communicate with their donors."

Question: Data is the lifeblood of fundraising and program management. Did you see any new ways to visualize or act on data that got you excited?

  • Caroline: "There was a session on functionality that allows Figma designs to connect via MCP with Agentforce Coworker to produce a Lightning Web Component. Being able to visually design a component to your exact specifications, provide data inputs in natural language, and produce a working LWC is revolutionary. A process typically siloed to a developer now allows marketing and design to collaborate directly on internal Salesforce and public-facing Experience Clouds."

Question: If you were given a blank check to implement one piece of Nonprofit Cloud tech you saw at Dreamforce, what would it be?

  • Caroline: "It would be a check to get any existing organizations on NPSP over to NPC. The overwhelming sense I gathered from NPSP users was that everyone has realized it's not an if, but a when. The sooner this shift can be made, the better off your organization will be. Hearing from our own client, Foster Success, in their session about their migration journey really sparked lively conversation — and the general consensus was that it's worth the effort."
